How to Prepare for a Legal Interpreter Appointment

1 min read

Legal interpreting runs more smoothly when the language provider receives clear details before the appointment.

Confirm the Language and Dialect

Ask the participant which language they communicate in most comfortably and whether a regional dialect matters.

Share the Logistics

Provide the date, start time, expected duration, location or video platform, contact person, and whether the appointment may run longer than scheduled.

Prepare Documents and Terminology

If permitted, share relevant terminology, document names, or general subject matter in advance so the interpreter can prepare appropriately.

Choose In-Person, Phone, or Video

In-person interpreting can be useful for complex or lengthy matters. Over-the-phone interpreting can work well for short calls and intake. Video remote interpreting adds visual communication when participants are in different locations.

Metro Language Services provides legal interpreting and translation support nationwide. Availability and required qualifications can vary by assignment, location, and receiving organization.
